Freshman Lubash, Junior Bonner Lead San Tan Charter Over Mountain Pointe 79-39 at the LV8 Invitational
The San Tan Charter Roadrunners kicked off its highly anticipated 2023-24 season on Wednesday with a 79-39 win over Mountain Pointe in the LV8 Invitational at Chandler Gilbert Community College (CGCC). San Tan will play its second game of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 24 vs Peoria, 3:00 PM at CGCC, and finish the event on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2:00 PM vs Perry at CGCC.
Sophomore Jackson, Freshman Lubash Lead Balanced Scoring Attack for San Tan Charter in 72-43 win over Peoria
Sophomore Kristo Jackson scored 13 points off the bench, freshman Peyton Lubash also added 13, and freshman Jase Benjamin scored 12 as the San Tan Charter Roadrunners defeated the Peoria Panthers 72-43 in the second day of action at the LV8 Invitational at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) on Friday. The Roadrunners will finish the tournament on Saturday in a showdown with the defending AIA Open Champion Perry Pumas (6A Premier), 2:00 PM at CGCC.
Classic at Damien Tournament Schedule Released
San Tan Charter will make its debut in the storied Classic at Damien Holiday Tournament December 26 with a matchup against Aquinas Catholic High School, 1:00 PM at the Damien High School Athletic Center in LaVerne, California. The tournament is set up straight into bracket play (View Bracket) and the Roadrunners will play four total games, one each on Dec. 26, Dec. 27, Dec. 29, and Dec. 30, with all teams getting an off-day on Dec. 28. 2023 Border League Schedule Released
The schedule for the 2023 Border League was released, announcing the San Tan Roadrunners were placed in the American Championship Bracket. The RoadRunners will face the La Cueva Bears (New Mexico) in its first game on Friday, Oct. 13, 7:45 PM at Silverado High School in Las Vegas.
San Tan Boys Win Fall Invite 17U Division
Boys from the San Tan Charter basketball team played in the 2023 Hoopers On1y Fall Invite, going 4-0 on the weekend to bring home the championship. The tournament included two wins over the AZ Gremlins, including a 46-44 victory in the championship game on Sunday.
San Tan Opens up Border League With 72-54 Win Over La Cueva
Led by 18 points and 7 assists from freshman Peyton Lubash, along with double-digit games from sophomore Kristo Jackson (14), senior Logan Johnstad (12), and junior Zaire Richardson (11), the San Tan Charter boys basketball team defeated La Cueva High School (New Mexico) 72-54 in its Border League debut Friday night. The Roadrunners advance in the bracket to play Canyon High School (California) Saturday morning at 10:15 AM at the Las Vegas Basketball Center.

San Tan Charter got 3 key free throws in the final minute from senior Logan Johnstad as the Roadrunners erased a 47-39 second half deficit to defeat Canyon High School in overtime on Saturday, advancing to the Border League semifinals. They will face Rosemary Anderson Prep (OR) today at 2:00 PM at the Las Vegas Basketball Center.

San Tan Charter's run to the championship in the American Division of the 2023 Border League came to an end Saturday after a 57-42 loss to Rosemary Anderson Prep (Oregon) on Saturday afternoon. The Roadrunners will conclude the event on Sunday, 12:15 PM at the Las Vegas Basketball Center against the Mater East Knights.

The San Tan Charter Roadrunners (1-0) opened the season in a dazzling way Wednesday night with an 88-37 win over Glendale Prep (0-1) at San Tan Charter High School in Gilbert, AZ. The Roadrunners travel to California on Friday for the 5th Annual Battle by the Beach Showcase at St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura, California.
Roadrunners Travel to California for 5th Annual Battle by the Beach
Coming off their 88-37 opening night victory on Wednesday, the #9 ranked (AZ Republic Preseason "Super 10") Roadrunners (1-0) travel to California to play in the 5th Annual Battle by the Beach Showcase, hosted at St. Bonaventure Catholic High School in Ventura, California. On Friday the Roadrunners will face Crespi Carmelite at 7:00 PM (8:00 PM AZ), followed by JSerra on Saturday at 6:00 PM (7:00 PM AZ) as part of a full slate of games in the showcase style event.
San Tan Charter Travels to Casteel For Power Road Showdown
The San Tan Charter Roadrunners (1-2) travel south on Power Road to play the Casteel Colts (1-1) on Tuesday night, 7:00 PM at Casteel High School. The Roadrunners return from the 5th Annual Battle by the Beach at St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura, California following losses to top California schools Crespi (62-56) and JSerra (80-59). Casteel, who lost in the 6A State Championship game 55-31 to Ironwood in February, is coming off a 70-61 loss in a rematch at Ironwood last Friday.
Roadrunners Win 2A Valley Region Championship
Junior Zaire Richardson and Freshman Peyton Lubash led all scorers with 17 points, and freshman Jase Benjamin also added 13 as the San Tan Charter Roadrunners defeated Arete Prep 80-39 on Saturday to win the 2A Valley Region Championship at San Carlos High School.
San Tan Charter #1 Seed in 2A State Championship
The San Tan Charter Roadrunners were announced as the #1 seed in the AIA 2A State Championship during the AZ Preps Bracket Show on Saturday morning. The Roadrunners will play Kingman Academy on Friday, 6:00 PM at Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott, AZ. It is the second consecutive year the Roadrunners enter the state tournament as the #1 seed as the team looks for its first state title as part of the AIA.
Roadrunners Make Statement in Prescott, Advance to AIA 2A Semifinals
The #1 ranked San Tan Charter Roadrunners put on a show in Prescott over the weekend, bringing home wins over #16 Kingman Academy 84-44 in the first round, along with a 105-45 win over #8 Horizon Honors in the quarterfinals, to advance to the AIA 2A State Championship Semifinals on Friday, February 23, 10:30 AM at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
Roadrunners Punch Ticket to 2A State Championship Game
Junior Zaire Richardson led all scorers with 17 points while fellow junior Kylen Bonner knocked down two key three-pointers in the second half as the San Tan Roadrunners punched their ticket to the AIA State Championship game following a 55-39 win over Phoneix Christian in the Semifinals on Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. 2024 Section 7 Qualifier Schedule Announced
Following an electrifying performance at the 2023 Section 7, San Tan Charter makes its return this year, kicking off the event on Monday, June 17 at 7:10 pm against Copper Canyon. Playing in the Legacy Foundation Qualifier Bracket 9, the Roadrunners will also play at 1:45 PM and 3:55 PM on Tuesday, June 18th, with opponents TBD based on results. San Tan Charter must win all three games to advance to the tournament weekend June 21-23. All games will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
San Tan Charter Advances to Second Day of Section 7 Qualifier
San Tan Charter opened the 2024 Section 7 Qualifying Bracket with a 61-13 win over Copper Canyon on Monday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. The Roadrunners advance to play Desert Ridge at 1:45 PM (Court 4) on Tuesday and must win to advance to the Bracket 9 Qualifying Championship game at 3:55 PM Tuesday for a chance to advance to the Section 7 Weekend Tournament (June 21-23). Roadrunners Win Section 7 Qualifier, Advance to Weekend Tournament
San Tan Charter defeated Desert Ridge (72-32) and Chaparral (78-37) on Tuesday to win its qualifier bracket and advance to the weekend tournament of the 2024 Section 7. The Roadrunners will play in the AZ Athletic Grounds Bracket and open play on Friday against Riverside Poly (CA), 5:00 PM at State Farm Stadium (Court 10) in Glendale.
AZ Republic Ranks Roadrunners #9 in Arizona "Super 10" Preseason Rankings
The San Tan Charter Roadrunners enter the season as the #9 ranked team in the state of Arizona according to the Arizona Republic "Super 10" preseason rankings posted on Tuesday, Nov. 19 (Link). The Roadrunners will be put to the test early, facing two of the other Super 10 teams in the first two weeks of the season at the LV8 Invitational, #1 Perry and #10 Williams Field.
San Tan Charter Faces Francis Parker (CA) in First Round of 2025 Section 7
The San Tan Charter Roadrunners return to the Section 7, Arizona's premier 'Juneball' high school event, opening up play against Francis Parker (CA) on Friday, June 20, 3:30 PM at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa. After winning their play-in bracket each of the last two seasons to advance to weekend play, the Roadrunners received a formal invite to this year's event, which will be making its debut in Mesa after playing at State Farm Stadium in Glendale for the past 3 summers.
